A lot of our time as retina specialists is spent treating patients medically in the clinic, but we also have a very important job of doing surgeries on patients in the operating room. What I try to do is focus on the individual patient and work with them to explain how we are going to restore their function, restore their vision, and how we are going to get them through this difficult time. Here at the Eye Care Center of Northern Colorado, we are very lucky and excited to have just opened a brand new advanced vision surgery center. Retina surgery involves a lot of advanced technology, a lot of very delicate instrumentation. Having the surgery center right next door allows us to treat many different retinal conditions with the most advanced technology and the newest equipment available. Over the last 20 to 30 years, retina surgery has improved by leaps and bounds. Things we couldn’t even dream of fixing 30 years ago are now fixed routinely in an outpatient procedure that takes less than an hour. We are able to offer the most advanced care in a setting that is specifically dedicated to eye surgery.
